About Abu Dhabi

Unknown to most, the Abu Dhabi emirate is archipelagic, where nearly 200 islands are located along its coast. Situated on the tropic of Cancer, Abu Dhabi’s climate is subtropical. Sunshine is almost guaranteed everyday in Abu Dhabi. Temperatures between June and September are the hottest reaching up to 48 C (118F) in the months of July and August, however with practically all buildings fully air conditioned this is not a problem. The best time to travel to Abu Dhabi would between October and May as at this point the weather becomes cooler and rainfall is almost non existent. Vast deserts occupy most of the mainland without change for centuries, but the islands of Abu Dhabi are very much in the 21st century. The largest of the seven emirates, salt flats line much of Abu Dhabi’s coastline, however inland the emirate is made up of sand and gravel desert.

The south of Abu Dhabi holds the dunes of the Rub al-Khali otherwise know as the Empty Quarter and is the largest sand sea in the world.  The culture of Abu Dhabi is an amalgamation of a number of world cultures.
